Blood Cancers

The Center for Hematologic Oncology provides specialized care for patients with cancers of the blood, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, as well as related disorders of the blood, such as aplastic anemia and myelodysplasia as well as related disorders of the blood, such as myelodysplasia.

Our center includes one of the largest and most experienced hematopoietic stem cell transplantation programs in the world.

To make sure your care is as seamless as possible, a dedicated team of specialists will care for you throughout treatment, from diagnosis though long-term follow-up.

We develop personalized, comprehensive treatment plans for all our patients. In addition to conventional treatment approaches, you may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials that offer new treatments for your type of cancer. We also communicate with your referring physician throughout your treatment, including collaboration for follow-up care closer to home where available.

Breast Cancer

At the Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers Breast Oncology Program, we know you face challenges beyond your immediate medical care.

Your treatment team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected cancer specialists, who focus specifically on breast cancer and have experience with all types of the disease. 

In addition to offering the latest in clinical care, we provide a wide range of resources — from support groups to nutritional advice to complementary therapies — to support you physically and emotionally throughout treatment.

Cancer Genetics and Prevention

Cancer is not usually an inherited disease. In some families with a history of certain types of cancer, however, people may inherit abnormal genes that place them at greater risk of developing the disease.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program offers advanced genetic tests to determine whether individuals are at risk for inherited forms of cancer. We also educate patients about cancer risk and its implications for themselves and family members. Working with referring physicians, we design individualized programs for monitoring patients for the earliest signs of cancer, diagnosing it if it occurs, and, in many cases, preventing it from arising.

Cutaneous (Skin) Cancer

At the Center for Cutaneous Oncology, we believe each case of skin cancer is as unique as the individual facing the diagnosis. Experts from a variety of medical fields are available to evaluate and treat your skin cancer, no matter how rare or complex.

We work closely together, and with you, to create individualized treatment that supports your medical, nutritional, and emotional needs.

Our dedicated team includes dermatologic oncologists, medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other specialists who focus exclusively on skin cancers.

Gastrointestinal Cancer

At the Center for Gastrointestinal Oncology, we understand that every patient has unique needs. This guides us in creating a treatment plan that takes your lifestyle and goals into account.

We offer the most advanced treatments for gastrointestinal cancers. As a new patient, you'll have your tumors tested for molecular alterations, the results of which will help form the basis of your therapy.

Cancer treatment can be a challenging experience, both emotionally and physically. We offer our patients and their families a range of support services, including nutrition counseling and complementary therapies such as acupuncture and massage.

Genitourinary Cancer

Dana-Farber’s Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology provides compassionate care for patients with prostate cancer, kidney cancer, and testicular cancer, as well as many other rare and common cancers.

Staffed by medical, urologic, and radiation oncologists, our center offers the latest treatments fueled by ongoing discovery. Our experts work closely together to create individualized treatment plans that offer each patient the most effective care.

We also provide a wide range of resources — from support groups to nutritional advice to complementary therapies — to support you physically and emotionally throughout treatment.

Gynecological Cancer

The specialists in the Susan F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers Gynecologic Oncology Program are dedicated to helping you and your family cope with cancer and its treatment. We work closely with you to develop an individualized treatment plan suited to your situation.

As a major research institution, Dana-Farber is able to provide not only outstanding care but also some of the most advanced therapies available.

Head and Neck Cancer

The Head and Neck Oncology Program is dedicated exclusively to treating patients with head and neck cancers, which include cancers of the throat, larynx, nose, sinuses, and mouth.

Your team of specialists will work with you and your family to create a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your type of cancer, as well as your lifestyle and personal needs.

Our doctors meet regularly to discuss new research developments. The close relationship between researchers and medical clinicians means the latest research findings are translated into new treatment approaches as quickly as possible.

Hematology

Our Adult Hematology Treatment Center is one of the world's largest and most respected treatment centers for patients with disorders of the blood or bone marrow.

Because hematological disorders take many different forms, your care team includes experts with specialized knowledge in treating your condition. The Center also conducts a wide range of clinical research to evaluate potential new therapies.

Our physicians, radiologists, nurse practitioners, and other specialists work closely together to develop a treatment approach tailored to the unique characteristics of your disease and to accommodating your needs.

Melanoma

The Center for Melanoma Oncology focuses exclusively on melanoma. Our team includes dermatologists, pathologists, surgical and medical oncologists, plastic surgeons, and radiation oncologists who work closely together to evaluate and treat patients with confirmed or suspected melanoma.

We offer clinical trials to provide a range of treatment options for high-risk patients or patients with metastatic melanoma.

Neuro-Oncology

The Center for Neuro-Oncology offers state-of the-art treatments for patients with brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, and neurologic complications from cancer.

We offer our patients access to a range of clinical trials for various types and stages of brain and spinal cord cancers. Our research program is a leader in clinical trials for brain tumors.

Sarcoma

When you come to the Center for Sarcoma and Bone Oncology, you'll meet with dedicated clinicians who have expertise in caring for patients with sarcoma.

Patients with sarcoma often require a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. We recognize that a team approach is the best way to manage these cases.

This means pathologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, surgeons and other health care professionals who specialize in sarcoma may be involved in decisions about your care.

Our specialists see patients with all sarcomas and a variety of mesenchymal tumors, including chondrosarcoma, desmoid tumor, liposarcoma, neurofibrosarcoma, osteosarcoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma.

Our group is also dedicated to clinical research to develop innovative treatment strategies for soft tissue and bone malignancies.

We will work with you to find other support services within Dana-Farber, including nutrition, complementary therapies, spiritual support, financial help, survivorship, and resources for families and young adults.

Thoracic Cancer

The Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology treats lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other cancers of organs within the chest.

Personalized lung cancer therapy is at the heart of our treatment philosophy. Our clinicians employ the latest advances in tumor genetic testing to design a personalized treatment plan that supports your medical, physical and emotional needs. 

Our physicians – including thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists, and medical oncologists – work closely together to provide all the clinical resources you need during your cancer treatment. Your team is with you at each stage of treatment to support you during your time at Dana-Farber.
